Cannas from 2013

In 2013, we were all anxious as to whether there would be a repeat of 2012's torrid summer. We did have one horribly hot week in July, but August was pleasantly mild. Since cannas are really at their peak in August (when everything else is in the doldrums), 2013 was a great year for cannas.
Here are some highlights:

Strawberry Delight again showed itself to be a superior cultivar (about 5 feet).

Cheyenne (6 feet) is a wonderful performer.

Polly Gay is a striking color (5-6 feet).

Lady K has nice dark foliage and an alluring apricot pink color (3-4 feet).

Caribbean Sunset (about 4 feet tall).

E

Ermine is about 5 feet tall and pretty much as close to white as cannas get. I also have Alyse, which is very similar, though petal edges are more wavy.

Belinda (6 feet) is an excellent performer and has long been a favorite.

Rob Roy has marvelous dark foliage and blooms almost continuously (3-4 feet).

Femme Fatale (3 feet) is an unusual color.

Candles has a smaller flower elegantly presented (4 feet).

Bejeweled (4-5 feet) is a striking orange/yellow blend.

Tropicanna and Bengal Tiger (6 feet). Flowers orange.

Red Futurity (very dark foliage). 5 feet

Natalie is pale yellow (5 feet). Good bloomer.

Valerie is red with darker foliage (6 feet).

Mademoiselle is an apricot pink. Has been short for me (about 3 feet).

Peach Butterflies grows to about 6-7 feet.  Smaller flowers, but produced abundantly.

Hotsie Totsie is lushly spreading at about 3 feet.

Aurora is reddish orange (color a bit too red here) with dark foliage (4-5 feet).

Lunar Light is bright yellow (6 feet). Limited this year. Flowers can arch.

 Thai Sunray (7 feet).

 Tropical Salmon (2-3 feet)

Mary Cassatt--intense tangerine grows on elongated stalks about 3 feet tall.

Hope (6 feet and darker foliage).

Pink Sunburst. Loved the hot weather of 2012, but didn't bloom as well in 2013. Limited this year (I think I have about 5.)

Pink Floyd (about 5 feet and very vigorous).

Fantastic Red. Intense, different shade of red, though performed better in 2012. Fairly good supply this year (4 feet), though it can be slow to take off.

Aida is a salmon pink about 6 feet tall. Large flowers.

Kismet has nice leaves (6 feet).

The President has huge flowerheads. A classic (4 feet).

Black Knight has dark red blooms (4-5').

Australia (6') is behind blooming Red Futurity in this picture (very dark foliage).
